Despite affecting 1,5 billion people worldwide, iron deficiency (ID) remains underprioritized, underdiagnosed, and as a consequence undertreated condition. The aim of the Iron Deficiency Day initiative, taking place annually on 26th November, is to raise awareness on
– iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia,
– signs and symptoms of ID to support its early identification,
– at-risk population,
– prevention and treatment in order to minimize the ID caused health damage.
